How is English proficiency related to the digital skills of Ukrainians?
According to recent studies, 51% of the adult population in Ukraine possesses basic English skills, while 23% have advanced knowledge. It has been found that English proficiency is directly correlated with socioeconomic status. Among high-income individuals, 52% exhibit strong English skills, whereas only 12% of low-income individuals can say the same.
Recently, the Ministry of Digital Transformation in Ukraine presented findings on digital literacy for 2023. Special attention was given to the connection between digital skills and English proficiency. It was revealed that English knowledge serves as an important indicator of life satisfaction, with 60.4% of Ukrainians lacking digital skills also not being proficient in English.
