Scammers are using fake video messages in the Telegram messenger to extract money and spread phishing links.

Details: The agency explained how the criminals operate:

• First, they hack into an account and upload the user’s video messages;
• Then, they create a fake monologue where the hacked user supposedly asks for money;
• They send the counterfeit video to the user’s friends and acquaintances.

To avoid being scammed, authorities advise verifying information when receiving such suspicious videos. It is recommended to ask the acquaintance to message through another platform or to call. Additionally, enabling two-factor authentication is advised for account protection.
