A dangerous trend is gaining traction among children on social media known as the game "Red Doors, Yellow Doors". In this game, participants attempt to induce a trance-like state in one another.
This can pose risks to the physical and mental health of children, warns the National Social Service of Ukraine.
Experts explain that during the game, children try to put one participant into a state resembling hypnosis, using relaxation and visualization techniques. As a result, the child may describe imaginary rooms that they visualize.
Professionals emphasize that such activities can lead to physical and psychological harm, including disrupted blood circulation, spasms, headaches, and dizziness.
Additionally, these practices can raise intracranial pressure and, in cases of congenital conditions, may lead to serious consequences like strokes.
The National Social Service also points out that "Red Doors, Yellow Doors" can trigger anxiety and disorientation in children, sometimes resulting in panic attacks and the development of psychosis.
Other potential outcomes include nightmares and distorted perceptions of reality.
Moreover, dangerous trends can carry social-behavioral risks for children:
- social withdrawal;
- irritability;
- nervousness;
- engaging in dangerous acts or criminal behavior.
"Be aware! The aggressor country uses gaming mechanisms to recruit children for real crimes, including arson and acts of vandalism," stressed the service.
What should parents do if their children are drawn to dangerous games?
Parents are advised to build trusting relationships with their children to recognize dangerous interests early. Calm discussions about the game, asking about their interests, and listening without judgment are crucial.
Next, it's essential to explain the potential risks of such games, discussing their impact on mental health and the possibility of being drawn into criminal activities.
"Pay attention to emotional behavior. If your child becomes withdrawn or anxious after conversations, consult a psychologist," experts added.
This year, a dangerous challenge involving children making firecrackers circulated on social media. As a result, three children were hospitalized in Lviv after attempting to create pyrotechnic devices.
