From October 10 to 12, 2025, Odesa hosted a nationwide sambo tournament dedicated to the memory of the outstanding coach Robert Babayants.

About 100 athletes from different regions of Ukraine, including Odesa, Kyiv, Odesa, Zhytomyr, and Mykolaiv oblasts, participated in the competition.

The tournament featured individual and team events, including a format called “Wall to Wall” for boys born in 2011–2013 and 2014–2016.

The overall team standings saw the Odesa team take first place, with Kyiv in second and Zhytomyr in third.

Team matches in the “Wall to Wall” format were also held:

• 1st place – “Tatami” team (Odesa);
• 2nd place – “Fanat” team (Chornomorsk);
• 3rd place – “Tigers” team (Odesa);
• 4th place – “Gorillas” team (Kyiv).

These competitions in memory of the legendary coach have been held annually since 2011.
