On the evening of Saturday, April 12, 2025, Odessa experienced a tragedy as firefighters battled a blaze in the Peresyp district, leading to the death of an elderly woman.

According to reports from the regional State Emergency Service, the fire broke out in an apartment on Prince Volodymyr the Great Avenue, where doors and parquet flooring caught fire.

The body of the apartment's owner, born in 1940, was discovered at the scene.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damages are currently under investigation.

Data from the State Emergency Service indicates that there were 19 fires reported in the Odessa region over the past 24 hours, including five in Odessa and 14 across the region.
