Today, April 13th, Odessa activists conducted a protest action at the monument of Alexander Pushkin located near the city hall on Primorsky Boulevard. They placed a noose around the monument and hung a sign reading «Looking for a bulldozer».

Some locals expressed their outrage at these actions, as evidenced by a published video.

«Are there really no other problems?» – inquired a man off-camera.

It remains unclear how the confrontation concluded.

According to Kateryna Musienko, head and founder of the youth organization «We Make You Nervous», activists decided to «prepare the Pushkin monument for Easter» in this unconventional manner.

«Today, we prepared the Pushkin monument for the holiday, clearly indicating that the figure should celebrate this holiday in a museum. We uphold Ukrainian Easter traditions by removing all unnecessary items from our homes!», – she wrote on Facebook.

She also stated that «the history of occupation by the Moscow Empire and later the Soviet Union should be studied in textbooks and museum exhibits».

«Colonial monuments have no place on the streets of a Ukrainian city», – the youth organization leader firmly believes.

In her opinion, the city council, which has the authority to dismantle the «Moscow figure» monument, not only ignores its responsibilities but even dared to renovate the monument's facade and plant flower beds around it.

«Let’s help Trukhanov find the machinery to remove this marker of the «Russian world» in the center of Odessa! Tear off the number from the «Looking for a bulldozer» sign and call the mayor to expedite the process!», – Musienko urged.
