The identification of approximately 6,000 bodies of fallen Ukrainian defenders handed over by the Russian side may take at least 13-14 months.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, Igor Klymenko, during a national television marathon.
The minister noted that the Russian side has so far transferred 6,060 bodies of the deceased.
“I can only estimate the situation approximately, as the analysis is still ongoing – regarding the condition of the remains and how many are actually contained in the packages provided by the Russian side. However, according to our experts' most modest preliminary estimates, the identification of these approximately 6,000 bodies will require at least 13-14 months”, – stated Igor Klymenko.
He also emphasized that this timeframe is the minimum necessary for the complete identification of all repatriated bodies.
According to him, all relevant services – forensic examination, expert divisions, and investigators – are working in three shifts to expedite this complex and crucial task.
