The national postal operator "Ukrposhta" is set to launch an updated mobile app with enhanced features by the end of June this year.
According to CEO Ihor Smiliansky in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, the new app is a top priority for the company for 2025.
"We plan to release the app by the end of the first half of the year. It will not only track parcels but will also allow interactions with customs, display estimated delivery dates, confirm documents, and view shipment and payment history," noted the head of Ukrposhta.
The launch of the new Ukrposhta app was initially scheduled for 2024 but was postponed for various reasons. The old app holds low ratings on the App Store and Google Play Market, primarily due to the lack of status notifications for parcels. It is expected that the new version will allow users to redirect parcels to different branches, a feature that currently requires phone calls or in-person visits.
Ihor Smiliansky also reported that around 1 billion UAH was invested in automation in 2024. "This amount includes guarantees for five years. Moreover, this is all our own funding," said the postal operator's CEO.

He stated that now over 90% of parcels arrive on time. "I measure the effect of automation through social media reactions. Previously, there were dozens or even hundreds of comments on my posts about how poorly Ukrposhta delivered. In the last two months, there have been almost none. This is the most honest indicator for me, as it cannot be faked. We have fully automated the process, and we are currently refining the IT system so that clients can see the estimated delivery date at the time of sending," concluded Ihor Smiliansky.
Recall that in February 2025, Ukrposhta fully automated parcel sorting. In January 2025, the government transferred shares of the First Investment Bank, previously owned by Russian oligarchs, to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, which will subsequently pass them to Ukrposhta. This way, the postal operator will be able to establish its own banking institution. Earlier, Ihor Smiliansky stated that after establishing its own bank, Ukrposhta's capitalization would increase, allowing for the creation of an Amazon-like platform in the Ukrainian format. It is also worth noting that last year, Ukrposhta reported revenue of 12.98 billion UAH, which is 8% more than nearly 12 billion in 2023. However, taking into account the annual inflation of 14.6%, the real growth turned into a decline — by the end of 2024, losses reached 387 million UAH.
