The Mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, met with the representative of the Azerbaijani community, Aliyev Ayaz Ali Ogly.
During the meeting, they discussed the implementation of the plan to develop the Azerbaijani Park near the 4th station of the Great Fountain. This green area, officially named «Azerbaijani Park» since 2013, is finally set to proceed with its landscaping project, which had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing war.
The Azerbaijani diaspora in Odessa, which numbers over 30,000 individuals, has presented a new concept for the park, which includes not only recreational zones but also a memorial for those who lost their lives in the war against Russia. All expenses will be covered by the diaspora itself.
«We are ready to collaborate with our partners, as Odessa has a beautiful tradition of parks created by the friends of our city. This is how the Istanbul Park, the Greek Park, and now the Azerbaijani Park came to be,» emphasized Gennadiy Trukhanov.
The park will be located next to the Odessa racetrack and will cover an area of over 2 hectares.
