Today, an important meeting took place in Odesa, attended by experts from the «Inclusive City» project of the Ministry of Community Development of Ukraine, along with representatives of local authorities. The meeting, chaired by Olexandr Filatov, the first deputy mayor, focused on improving accessibility for all city residents.
According to Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, Odesa is one of 15 cities participating in this initiative led by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
As part of this initiative, funded by various budget levels, a new pedestrian route is set to be created in the Peresyp district, connecting key social and infrastructure sites with the tram line.
This route will run along Prince Volodymyr the Great Avenue, starting at the intersection with Kishynevskaya Street and ending at the Odesa Regional Clinical Hospital, including access to the Administrative Services Center on David Oistrakh Street.
On this route, accessibility improvements will include pedestrian pathways, ramps, adapted public transport stops, parking spaces, and information systems, providing conveniences for people with disabilities.
Currently, the team of experts is coordinating work and conducting inspections of the reconstruction sites.
Additionally, a working group with Kyiv experts visited Odesa's beaches to familiarize themselves with the progress of the inclusive beach setup and other social infrastructure facilities.
