A new modern bridge is set to be built in the southern part of the Odesa region over the Danube River.

This news comes from the information agency CTS.

The bridge will be located in the village of Orlivka in the Izmail district, linking with the Romanian city of Isakcha on the other side of the river.

This project is included in the regional recovery and development plan for 2025-2027, published on the Odesa Regional Council's website.

The planned bridge will be part of the international route E87, connecting Ukraine with Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey.

Currently, drivers must take a long detour through Moldova, crossing the border twice. The new bridge will shorten the route to Isakcha by 80 kilometers.

The construction of the Orlivka-Isakcha bridge over the Danube aims to become a key element of the southern transport corridor, linking Ukraine with the EU via Romania.

Funding for the construction will be provided through international assistance - over 12.6 billion UAH over three years. In 2025, 1.26 billion will be allocated, in 2026 nearly 3.8 billion, and in 2027 over 7.5 billion UAH.

The upcoming phases will include design work, environmental studies, the actual construction of the bridge and access roads, as well as the establishment of checkpoints and connections to international routes.

The future bridge will be four lanes wide, feature sidewalks for pedestrians on both sides, and be designed to withstand earthquakes of up to 9 points.

On the Ukrainian side, a 3 km access road will be built, while the Romanian side will have a 950-meter road.
