Odessa has recently acquired 7 cogeneration units with a total capacity of 2.2 MW as part of the project «Enhancing Urban Resilience in Ukraine».
This project is a segment of the German transitional aid provided under the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
Currently, the first two units have been installed, which will provide stable heating for about 23 thousand consumers, including residential buildings, schools, and healthcare facilities.
«These units generate both heat and electricity simultaneously, allowing the heating plants to operate even during a complete power outage. We are preparing for winter now so that our people will have warmth under any circumstances. I sincerely thank our partners», said Odessa’s mayor, Gennady Trukhanov.
The installation of cogeneration units is ongoing.
