To enhance road safety in Odesa, an expansion of stationary traffic monitoring devices is planned.

Following a joint analysis of accident-prone areas conducted with representatives from the National Police, the Odesa City Transport Department, and other relevant agencies, four new locations have been identified for the installation of automatic violation detection cameras.

New monitoring points include:

  • the intersection of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Street – Protsenka Street and Brodska Street. Two cameras will be installed here: one will monitor oncoming traffic, while the other will watch for traffic heading towards Roman Shukhevych Street. In 2024, there were 5 accidents with injuries reported here;
  • the intersection of Heavenly Hundred Avenue and School Airfield Street: two cameras will oversee traffic towards Levitan Street. Over the past three years, there have been 12 accidents with injuries;
  • the intersection of Lustdorf Road and Breus Street: one camera will monitor oncoming traffic towards Admiral Avenue. There have also been 12 accidents with injuries recorded here;
  • the 3rd station of Lustdorf Road: one camera will monitor oncoming traffic toward Heroes of Krut Street. Over the last three years, there have been 9 accidents with injuries.

The installation of the cameras has been agreed upon with the relevant National Police authorities and complies with the requirements of the Order for the functioning of the automatic fixation system, approved by Cabinet Resolution No. 833 of Ukraine.

The decision to expand the network of cameras will be presented to the Odesa City Council shortly. It is expected that the new devices will help reduce the number of accidents and improve driver discipline on the city's roads.
