Odessa — a city renowned for its rich architectural heritage, boasting over 2000 cultural landmarks.

Many of these sites require modernization to align with inclusivity and accessibility principles.

The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, along with his advisor on barrier-free spaces, Alexey Morozov, held a meeting with UNDP representative and architect Artem Moiseenko, a specialist in contextual inclusion and architectural accessibility.

Odessa is preparing to submit a proposal for a competition on barrier-free routes. The discussion focused particularly on tourist routes in the historic city center.

Topics included the establishment of adapted movement routes, installation of navigational elements, ramps, and handrails to facilitate comfortable and safe urban space usage for individuals with diverse needs.

Participants also addressed ensuring full architectural accessibility for the Odessa City Council building.
