As a result of a severe natural disaster in Odesa, a powerful rainstorm on September 30, 2025, caused immense damage to the city. In just one day, the rainfall equaled two months' worth of precipitation, leading to flooding of roads and buildings, power outages in several areas, and damage to infrastructure and fallen trees.
Sadly, despite the prompt response of emergency services and municipal enterprises, the disaster resulted in human losses.
In memory of the victims, October 2, 2025, has been declared a Day of Mourning in the city.
The national flag of Ukraine and the city flag will be flown at half-mast on official buildings.
All businesses and organizations in the city, regardless of ownership, are advised to limit music and entertainment activities during this mourning period.
The mayor and the Odesa City Council express their heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.
