To prevent flooding and maintain the efficiency of vital water structures, specialists from the KP «City Roads» in Odesa carry out regular cleaning operations.

The buffer pond, Romanian canal, and Kuyalnik ditches serve to drain stormwater, rainwater, and meltwater from the city streets.

Using specialized machinery, municipal workers clear the channels and ponds of vegetation, debris, and silt. Special attention is given to the most clogged areas where drainage from residential houses occurs.

The Kuyalnik ditch, the main drainage channel, extends 4650 meters. It runs along Vapnyana and Khadzhibey roads and then through filtration fields to the drainage pumping station. This channel diverts stormwater, drainage, and meltwater from adjacent neighborhoods.

Regular cleaning of storm drains and sewer collectors throughout the city is also performed. Heavy machinery, such as excavators, graders, and high-pressure hydraulic units, are used for these cleaning operations.

In case of heavy rainfall, cleaning is conducted on an emergency basis.
