In a single day, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police conducted an operation that uncovered illegal arms sales in four regions of Ukraine: 15 individuals were arrested.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
As a result of the operation, 15 individuals were apprehended, attempting to establish an illegal market for military-grade weapons. Among the confiscated items were Russian Kalashnikov rifles with the under-barrel grenade launcher "Ohnystya", a batch of fragmentation grenades, and explosives.
In Odesa, one trader was caught "red-handed" while attempting to sell homemade explosive devices (HED) and combat grenades. Almost 1 kg of TNT, homemade explosives, and a batch of F-1 and RGD grenades were seized on-site.
In the Kyiv region, a 31-year-old local resident and four accomplices were arrested for selling "trophy" weapons obtained from former combat zones in the eastern front.
After transporting the arsenals to the capital region, the traders restored the combat characteristics of the weapons for sale through personal connections in criminal circles.
Additionally, two criminal groups were neutralized in the Kyiv region, attempting to sell a Kalashnikov machine gun, a hand-held RPG-7V grenade launcher with rounds, and various caliber ammunition.
In Chernihiv, law enforcement arrested three more members of a criminal group who were looking for clients to sell automatic weapons and explosives.
In Lutsk, a local resident was caught trying to sell combat grenades to criminals. He intended to "cover his tracks" and demanded payment through "anonymous" payment systems. The detained individuals were charged under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of firearms, military ammunition, or explosives). The offenders are currently in custody, facing up to 7 years in prison.
