On December 5, 2024, a conference titled «Accessible Tourism in Odessa» took place.
The primary goal of this event was to unite the efforts of local authorities and business owners to enhance the barrier-free environment in the tourism sector.
This issue was highlighted by the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine as a priority for 2024.
Despite the challenges posed by wartime conditions, Odessa continues to attract tourists from around the globe, making it crucial to ensure infrastructure accessibility for everyone.
The conference brought together individuals with disabilities, government representatives, and business figures to discuss the accessibility of cultural and tourist sites, as well as medical tourism.
«Today, we are working to create conditions where every resident and guest can move freely and access the city’s services. All facilities, from hotels to public transport, must be adapted for individuals with disabilities,» emphasized Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
Participants also discussed the current situation, development plans, grant programs, and the role of businesses in ensuring accessibility in Odessa.
