A UNESCO mission led by Ms. Kiara Dezi Bardeschi has arrived in Odesa.
The mission members are examining cultural heritage sites that were damaged during the hostile attack on November 14.
According to Ivan Liptuga, the director of the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration of the Odesa City Council, 22 architectural monuments were affected, with 19 located directly within the UNESCO cultural heritage site.
“Next week, a special commission will convene to prepare damage reports so that UNESCO can provide urgent emergency assistance,” said Ivan Liptuga.
“UNESCO condemns yet another violation of international law regarding attacks on cultural heritage. We are working with local authorities and specialists to assess the situation and plan our next steps,” Ms. Kiara Dezi Bardeschi stated.
