A new exhibition titled "Exploring German Heritage in Ukraine" has been launched in Regensburg. 

This exhibition, brought from Odessa, features a remarkable collection of historical materials illuminating the lives of German settlers in the Odessa region since the early 19th century and their impact on local development. 

The exhibition is divided into three parts: historical, artistic, and contemporary. The historical section has been prepared by renowned historian Oleksandr Surilov, while the artistic section showcases works by Odessa artist Tetiana Romanenko. 

A significant aspect of the exhibition is the display of cooperation between the cities and the assistance that Regensburg has extended to Odessa since the onset of the war. 

The exhibition has been organized with the support of the cultural departments of Odessa and Regensburg. 

At the opening ceremony, Odessa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov and Regensburg Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer attended, along with historians, scientists, and Ukrainian expatriates living in Germany. 

Mayor Trukhanov expressed appreciation for the ongoing support for Odessa. 

"Our struggle has lasted a thousand days, and we are grateful for the support from European countries, especially Regensburg," he stated. 

The mayor also noted that Odessa has become a home for many displaced persons, similar to how various nationalities, including Germans and Jews, found refuge here in the past. Each contributed to the city's cultural richness. 

"Germany has significantly influenced the agricultural and infrastructural development of the region, and we hold this contribution in high regard," he emphasized. 

Today, the bonds between Odessa and Regensburg remain strong, as does our faith in victory and Ukraine's independence. We are hopeful for a brighter future.
