The Odesa Regional Universal Scientific Library named after M.S. Hrushevskyi is hosting a solo exhibition by Sergiy Basok – a decorator artist from the Odesa Academic Theater of Musical Comedy named after M. Vodianyi.
The exhibition, titled "Colors of Ukraine", features a collection of landscape paintings from various corners of the country that Sergiy Basok himself has visited:
"Here you will find Chernihiv and the Carpathians, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy region, and Khmelnytskyi. There’s also Bakota, and even one sketch from Crimea done before 2013. And, of course, Odesa is represented. The Odesa region, particularly the north, where houses sit under reeds. Budak is a beautiful spot, with a lagoon on one side and the sea on the other, and a spit stretching for about 40 kilometers", the artist told Suspilne.
The exhibition "Colors of Ukraine" offers a chance to view familiar places from a new perspective and discover new corners of our country through the lens of color and emotion, the organizers noted.
"I paint what I love, what I feel. The most important thing is to have a positive spirit within me so that it reflects in my painting. If a piece on the canvas 'sings' – then it works for the viewer. I put some emotion into it, and the colors 'sing' on the canvas. In my opinion, this is very important", added Sergiy Basok.
