A new exhibition by French artist Fanny Lechevalier titled «In memoriam. Reality Through Art» has opened in Odesa.

The display will remain at the Museum of Contemporary Art until June 17.

Fanny Lechevalier's exhibition serves as a visual bridge between the past and the present, merging classical European painting with the contemporary challenges of war in Ukraine. This project intersects art, documentary, and charity.

The artist employs photomontage techniques, blending images from war correspondents with recognizable works of Western classical art.

The result is striking imagery that urges a rethinking of the tragedy unfolding at Europe's borders.

One of the primary goals of the project is to raise funds for a rehabilitation hub where patients can undergo educational and psychological recovery.

At the opening, Odesa's Deputy Mayor Pavlo Vugelman emphasized that everyone has their front in this war.

«Ms. Lechevalier, through her art, allows the world to feel the tremendous grief happening on our land», - remarked Pavlo Vugelman.

The exhibition is organized by the Solidarity charity fund, which focuses on rebuilding Ukraine and providing comprehensive assistance to those affected by the war.

Matthew-Marie Arden, head of the Solidarity fund, stated: «Odesa is an important location on Ukraine's cultural map and a city with a rich cultural heritage. For Solidarity, it is extremely valuable to present this exhibition here as a symbol of European solidarity with Ukraine, as we aim not only to provide comprehensive support to those affected by the war but also to foster cultural diplomacy. This initiative is implemented in Ukraine with the assistance of Dovgyi Family Office, in Odesa with the support of the Odesa City Council, the French Embassy in Ukraine, the French Institute in Ukraine, Alliance Française in Odesa, and the company "Megabud".

After Odesa, the project «In memoriam. Reality Through Art» will be displayed in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Lviv. The exhibition previously took place in Kyiv.
