A UN delegation led by humanitarian coordinator Mr. Matthias Schmale is visiting Odesa to assess the humanitarian conditions in the region.
The visit aims to discuss further cooperation steps amidst military challenges.
On October 15, 2024, during a meeting, acting mayor Oleksandr Filatov and advisor Veronica Etnarovych discussed security issues, humanitarian needs, support for internally displaced persons (IDPs), and winter preparations with Mr. Schmale.
The parties also explored prospects for collaboration with international organizations.
The delegation members visited the Social-Psychological Assistance Center for IDPs, currently housing around 100 individuals.
The UN representatives familiarized themselves with living conditions and interacted with the displaced persons.
Mr. Schmale noted that the Center provides comfortable living conditions for those forced to leave their homes and is one of the best in Ukraine.
On October 16, the delegation visited Sofiivska Street, 6, where emergency roof repairs are being conducted with the help of charitable organizations.
In conclusion, Matthias Schmale emphasized the importance of international support for Ukraine to ensure safety and stability.
