A significant coordination meeting took place with CIHEAM program manager, Mr. Luigi Cavestro.
The main objective of the meeting was to discuss a new initiative titled «Program for the Recovery of Ukraine's Agricultural Sector. Pro.UKR», which is set to be implemented in the Odesa region with the support of AICS and CIHEAM.
This project was developed by Italian experts in collaboration with specialists from the Odesa region and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, covering the Berezivskyi, Rozdilnyi, and Odesa districts.
The aim of the initiative is to support small and medium-sized agricultural businesses, strengthen the presence of Ukrainian agricultural products in global markets through technological support and improving their quality to meet European standards, as well as develop animal husbandry. The project also includes support for irrigation system development in the Odesa region.
The core idea of the project is to provide training and create cooperatives for processing agricultural products from small farms, establishing stable connections between the Ukrainian and Italian markets.
As part of the joint initiative, CIHEAM plans to invest over 9 million euros in the agricultural industry of Odesa.
Recall that the Italian Ambassador to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, signed an agreement with CIHEAM at the end of March to launch this project.
The «Pro.UKR» initiative is part of broader efforts by Italy to support the recovery of Ukraine and the Odesa region in the current challenging economic and social circumstances.
