Investigators have completed the preliminary inquiry into a woman who caused damages exceeding 48,000 UAH. The indictment has been filed in court. The offender faces imprisonment.
The perpetrator operated at a market in the Peresyp district, posing as a technician for gadget and home appliance repairs. She offered her services and deceitfully collected phones and a robot vacuum cleaner from five trusting citizens, promising quick returns. Instead, she vanished with the devices.
This resulted in losses totaling more than 48,000 UAH for the victims.
After waiting in vain for their property, the victims reported to the police. Through the measures taken, officers from Police Station No. 2 of Odessa's District Police Department No. 1 identified and located the perpetrator, a 36-year-old local resident. She had sold the vacuum cleaner and two phones, but law enforcement managed to recover all the devices and return them to their rightful owners.
Investigators gathered sufficient evidence to charge her under parts 1 and 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for acquiring someone else's property through deception, classified as fraud, especially when committed repeatedly. The indictment has been sent to court, and she faces up to three years of imprisonment.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office of Odessa.
The police urge citizens to be more cautious and to utilize the services of verified specialists and official service centers.
