During a heated argument, a mother stabbed her son with a knife. She has been charged and faces imprisonment.

The incident occurred a few days ago at the family's residence in a village within the Teplytska community. Authorities determined that a conflict arose between a 50-year-old intoxicated woman and her 17-year-old son. In the course of the dispute, the mother grabbed a kitchen knife and struck her son in the chest.

The boy's father called for an ambulance. Doctors hospitalized the teenager with a penetrating chest wound and lung damage, resulting in a hemothorax, as reported to the police.

Police seized the weapon from the scene and sent it for forensic examination. The suspect was detained and placed in a temporary holding facility.

«After gathering sufficient evidence, we charged the suspect with intentional grievous bodily harm, which poses a danger to life. According to part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the woman faces up to eight years in prison. The court chose to remand her in custody based on our request. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Bolhrad District Prosecutor's Office», - stated Olena Uzun-Kurtoglo, head of the investigative department of the Bolhrad District Police.
