In Odesa, law enforcement authorities apprehended a man attempting to deceive individuals by offering services to evade mobilization. The fraudster promised to employ a man in the Security Service of Ukraine as a «contract agent» for $5500 and provide documentation for military service deferment.
The 44-year-old resident of Odesa, originally from Dnipropetrovsk, was caught trying to execute this scheme. He claimed to have connections that would aid in executing the plan and demanded the money quickly, threatening to report the client to the military enlistment office if they refused.
During the arrest, police seized evidence related to the crime. The suspect has been charged under Ukraine's Criminal Code for abuse of influence, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison.
The process is managed by the Odesa city prosecutor's office.
