The regional stage of the project «Shoulder to Shoulder. Nationwide School Leagues» has begun in the Odesa region. This initiative, started by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, aims to unite youth under the slogan «Together We Will Win!».
This season sees a record participation of nearly 20,000 players. A total of 2,440 teams from 541 schools in Odesa have submitted applications!
Today, eight strong futsal teams (boys) competed for a single ticket to the national final across two age categories (grades 5-9 and 9-11):
- Odesa Secondary School No. 35,
- Velykomykhailivskyi Lyceum,
- Pavlivskyi ZZS,
- Saratsky Lyceum,
- Nerubaysky Lyceum No. 1,
- Zatishansky ZZS,
- Kamchitsky Lyceum,
- First Lyceum of Voznesensk.
During the opening ceremony, Anton Shalyhaiilo, Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, addressed the young athletes and their coaches.
Among those supporting the teams was one of Ukraine's top football scorers, a sports veteran, project ambassador, and player of the national football team, Oleksandr Kosyrin, known for scoring the fastest goal in Ukrainian Premier League history in 2009.
From the very first minutes of the competition, the region's sports mascot, a friendly and cheerful Dolphin, encouraged participants during the intense matches.
As a result of the fierce matches in the 5-9 grade category, the Pavlivsky Lyceum team from the Bolhrad district claimed victory over all its opponents.
For boys in grades 9-11, the strongest team turned out to be the students of the Kamchitsky Lyceum from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district.
