Ukrainian fencer Daria Mironyuk successfully made her way into the main draw of the Grand Prix taking place in Shanghai.

In the 1/64 finals, she defeated a competitor from Hong Kong with a score of 12:7. Overall, five female fencers represented Ukraine at this stage, but four of them faced elimination.

Alina Polozniuk lost to Camilla Mancini (8:15), Kim Ho Yong outperformed Kristina Petrova (10:15), Kateryna Budenko suffered a crushing defeat to Maria Teresa Dias (5:15), and Olga Sopyt was defeated by Vladislava Penyushkina in the 1/128 finals.

It is worth noting that at the end of 2024, Mironyuk earned her first medal at the senior level, winning silver at the European Championship in Basel as part of the Ukrainian team.

Earlier reports indicated that the international fencing federation allowed "neutral" Russians and Belarusians to participate in team competitions.
