Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to attend the NATO summit taking place at the end of June in The Hague, Netherlands.
This was confirmed by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans in an interview with WNL.
Zelensky at NATO Summit: New Prospects
“NATO is considering where in the agenda [of the summit − ed.] Zelensky could fit well,” said the minister, affirming the plans for the Ukrainian leader's participation.
According to him, US President Donald Trump is also expected to be present at the summit.
However, Brekelmans did not answer whether there would be a separate meeting between Zelensky and Trump during the summit in The Hague.
The NATO leaders' summit is scheduled for June 24-26, 2025, in The Hague, Netherlands.
Zelensky Might Not Be Invited to NATO Summit for the First Time in Three Years
It was previously reported that the President of Ukraine might not be invited to participate in the main discussions of the NATO summit in the Netherlands in June for the first time in three years.
The goal of this summit is to demonstrate unity within the alliance. Involving Ukraine could potentially create tension, especially with President Trump, who advocates for negotiations with Russia and opposes Ukraine's NATO membership in the near future.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Kyiv has continuously participated in NATO summits.
In 2022, Ukraine participated virtually in Madrid. In Vilnius in 2023 and in Washington in 2024, President Zelensky attended in person. Last year’s leaders' meeting also included a session in the NATO-Ukraine format.
