The restoration of the chimney for the boiler house «North-2» has been completed after it was damaged due to severe weather in November 2023.
The restoration work was carried out with the financial support of UNICEF. The chimney of the municipal boiler house «Heating of the City of Odesa» is now in operation and supplies heat to 120,000 residents along with educational and medical institutions in the area.
«This winter, UNICEF prioritized providing warmth to families and children, while ensuring the continuity of essential services such as healthcare, electricity, water supply, sanitation, and educational institutions, especially in areas most affected by the war», stated Munir Mamedzade, head of UNICEF Representation in Ukraine.
On behalf of the Odesa community, Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov expressed sincere gratitude to UNICEF for their consistent support and cooperation.
«This project is a vivid example of international cooperation and the support we feel in everything, especially in restoring and developing the critical infrastructure of our city. When we work together, we are ready to meet modern challenges and can provide comfortable living conditions for our citizens», the Mayor of Odesa thanked.
The Mayor also shared that restoration works on the boiler house building are ongoing, but they do not affect the heating supply process for the residents of Odesa.
