Yesterday, the head of Odesa Regional State Administration Oleg Kiper, together with the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitalii Kovalev and the head of the State Fisheries Agency Vladyslav Neveselyi, held an important meeting with local farmers. This was reported by the press service of Odesa OVA.
Among the major topics discussed were irrigation, which is critical for the local development. They also focused on livestock, agro-processing, and fish farming. Other issues included selection, development of agricultural education, construction of vegetable storage facilities, and support for domestic winemakers. Additionally, a new irrigation system was launched in the Odesa district.
This irrigation system provides watering for over 12.2 thousand hectares of agricultural land. The total length of the main canals is 120 km. The system consists of 47 pumping stations that supply water to the closed irrigation system. Moreover, the participants visited agribusiness enterprises, where they familiarized themselves with the production capacities and interacted with the employees of the companies.
