In Odessa, two key maritime educational institutions will merge. This significant decision was made during a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the leadership of the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” and the Odessa National Maritime University.
The meeting took place at the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”, where Deputy Minister of Education Mykhailo Vynnytskyi discussed the merger with the heads of both universities. All participants agreed that merging is essential to establish a new, stronger educational institution.
During the discussion, participants examined all aspects of the merger, including timelines and management issues, as well as other important details related to the creation of the new university based on the two existing ones.
The main goal of this move is to form a modern maritime university in Ukraine and to improve the maritime education system.
Previously, there were opinions suggesting that the maritime academy should merge with the maritime university, which met with some resistance from the academy's administration.
