A farmer from Vynogradivka, Yuriy Syurma, is set to build a greenhouse complex within the Bolhrad community. The local council has backed his initiative, and after an open auction, he secured the right to lease eight hectares of land for his agricultural project.

With six years of experience, Yuriy specializes in growing organic vegetables. Last year, he successfully cultivated produce on three hectares, prompting him to expand his business.

“I wanted to scale up, so I approached the city council. They supported my idea, organized the land auction, and I was fortunate to win,” Yuriy shared.

Yuriy plans to grow zucchini, strawberries, watermelons, corn, and tomatoes, all organically produced, which is significant in a region where traditional agrochemicals are prevalent.

“We aim to return the true taste of vegetables to people and restore trust in natural products grown with care,” Yuriy emphasized.

The first harvest from the new land is anticipated after the preparatory work is completed. This year, the focus will be on establishing irrigation systems and preparing the soil. Yuriy also thanked the mayor, Serhiy Dymytriev, for his assistance with organizational matters.

The project is expected to create 20–30 permanent jobs for local residents.

“Don’t hesitate to reach out to the authorities with your ideas. If one door closes, another will surely open,” Yuriy advises those dreaming of starting their own business.

The Bolhrad city council emphasizes the importance of local entrepreneurship development and supporting initiative-taking residents.
