Odesa Presented Its Achievements for the Second Time at the National Forum Dedicated to the “Barrier-Free Movement” Project
On June 18, 2025, an important meeting was held at the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine to discuss the implementation of the flagship project “Barrier-Free Movement.”
The session was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery Oleksii Kuleba, with the participation of Deputy Minister Nataliia Kozlovska.
Oleksandr Zhiltsov, Secretary of the Barrier-Free Council, shared successes in implementing the city’s barrier-free plan and presented new initiatives being introduced in Odesa. Special attention was paid to creating a barrier-free environment in hospitals, transport hubs, stops, and social institutions.
Odesa is actively implementing inclusive stops, operating a social taxi service, and adapting medical institutions to accommodate all citizens, including veterans and people with disabilities.
The initiatives promoting barrier-free accessibility are implemented through the efforts of Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and coordinated by the Barrier-Free Council at the City Council.
As a reminder, Odesa is one of the pilot communities in the “Barrier-Free Movement” project, which is implemented as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine until 2030 under the patronage of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
