Odesa and Wrocław are recognized as literary cities by UNESCO. The gnome serves as a symbol of Wrocław, where over a thousand sculptures can be found, each representing various professions and activities. These small figures are scattered throughout the city, showcasing cafes, workshops, pastry shops, libraries, pharmacies, and more.

On October 25, 2024, the Ukrainian-Polish children's contest 'Enchanted Heroes of UNESCO Literary Cities. The World of Gnomes' will kick off in Odesa.

Children are invited to draw their favorite fairy tale characters – gnomes – and write their own stories about this wonderful race of little folk.

Drawings in A3, A4 format and stories up to 5,000 characters are accepted from October 25 to November 25, 2024, via email: igо189188@gmail.com.

All submissions will be displayed on the contest page.

The jury from Odesa and Wrocław will select the best works and award the winners. All entries will be showcased in an exhibition, and the stories will be published in a gnome book, presented in Odesa and Wrocław.

This children's contest aims to strengthen cultural ties and collaboration between Odesa and Wrocław.
