From October 10 to 12, 2025, Riga hosted the fifth anniversary festival 'Days of Ukrainian Cinema in Latvia', highlighting the importance of cultural diplomacy between Ukraine and Latvia.
This event was organized with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema and involved the Charity Foundation ChF 'Doors', the NGO 'International Association for the Development and Support of Ukrainian Culture', and the Latvian organization 'Dījatī'.
This year, the festival introduced a new format — a Round Table on 'Prospects for the Development of Ukrainian Cinema and Co-production with European Filmmakers', uniting representatives from the cultural and educational sectors of both countries.
The festival continued with screenings of Ukrainian films, presented by the filmmakers themselves.
The Head of the Board of Odesa Film Studio, Anna Docheva, presented the film 'Why I Am Alive' directed by Vilēns Novaks, created at the Odesa Film Studio, which has already become iconic in the contemporary history of Ukrainian cinema.
During the festival, Walter Kaganis was awarded the 'Legends of Odesa Film Studio' prize for his significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema and collaboration with Odesa Film Studio.
Screenings took place at the Ksuns/Kinogalerija cinema and the Ukrainian House in Latvia (Ukrainas māja Latvijā).
