In the Berezivsky district of Odessa region, a tragic incident occurred: a one-year-old boy died in the hospital after sustaining serious injuries. His mother, a 26-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing bodily harm.

This information was provided by the Main Directorate of the National Police of Odessa region.

The day before, the child was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state. Doctors discovered a brain contusion and old fractures of the bones.

The mother claimed that her son was injured after falling from the bed. However, as the investigation unfolded, police uncovered that she had been deceiving and had actually inflicted harm on the child while he was crying.

The woman has been detained and charged under Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for causing grievous bodily harm. Police noted that she faces a significant prison term.

The court has chosen a preventive measure of detention for the suspect.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officials have appointed several examinations, including a forensic medical one, to determine the exact cause of the child's death.

It is worth mentioning that in the Ternopil region, a woman was sentenced for intentionally stabbing her three-year-old son in the eye, causing him to lose vision in one eye.
