During a visit to Venice, a significant meeting took place between Ivan Liptuga, the Director of the International Cooperation, Culture and Marketing Department of Odesa, and Luca Dzuin, the Mayor's Chief of Staff, along with Denis Wellington, the head of the department responsible for UNESCO relations and cultural heritage protection.

The attendees discussed:

  •  Venice's experience in cultural heritage preservation and collaboration with UNESCO;
  •  marketing strategies and tourism development;
  •  analytics systems and communication;
  •  how Venice tackles complex historical issues and recommendations for maintaining cultural memory.

They also visited a smart room where data from surveillance cameras and other sources are collected.

«The exchange of experiences with Venice is incredibly important for Odesa as a UNESCO World Heritage site. We are grateful to our partners in Venice for their openness and willingness to share practices that help protect and simultaneously develop globally significant cities,» said Ivan Liptuga.
