Next year, Odesa and Gdańsk will celebrate 35 years of friendly relations. In honor of this occasion, a festive concert and other events are scheduled in Gdańsk as part of the project 'Odesa Visits'.
During the visit to the twin city, the Odesa delegation discussed the organizational details of the cultural program.
One of the key focuses was on enhancing professional cooperation. At the invitation of the Polish side, the Odesa delegation participated in the international exhibition BALEXPO 2025, where port infrastructure, logistics, and innovations were among the key topics.

“This was an opportunity to showcase the potential of our community and confirm our commitment to joint development with European partners,” emphasized Olena Zakarchenko-Netuzhilova, Deputy Director – Head of the International Relations Department of the Department of International Cooperation, Culture, and Marketing.

During the meetings, the following topics were discussed:

  • expansion of partnership links;
  • experience exchange on eurointegration at the local level;
  • joint project development for attracting funding from European funds;
  • intermunicipal cooperation of neighboring communities and the creation of functional territories as a development tool;
  • Ukrainian practices in civil protection and rapid response of local government authorities in wartime conditions.

“Partnership with Odesa is about trust, shared initiatives, and the desire to move forward together,” stressed Gdańsk Deputy Mayor Piotr Gżelak.

Gdańsk is a port city on the Baltic Sea in Poland, with a rich history and multicultural heritage. Like Odesa, it combines maritime trade, architectural beauty, and a spirit of resilience.
