In Odesa, a shocking crime occurred on Heroes of Defense of Odesa street. An unknown man attacked a woman in the entrance of a residential building, brandishing a knife, and stole her gold chain. After fleeing the scene, the police acted swiftly and managed to apprehend him within a few hours.

The incident took place on the morning of April 15. A 63-year-old woman was returning home when an unknown man followed her into the building. He cornered her, held a knife to her neck, and stole her jewelry.

Law enforcement arrived rapidly at the scene, bringing in dog units, and identified the assailant in less than a day. He turned out to be a 33-year-old man with a prior criminal record and no permanent residence. It was found that he exchanged the stolen chain for drugs. Authorities are still working on locating the stolen item.

"The suspect has been detained and placed into temporary custody. He has already been charged under part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed under martial law. The accused faces up to 15 years of imprisonment with asset confiscation. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa," the statement reads.
