Last October, in a forest near a village in the Balta community, a mutilated and burnt body of a man was discovered. The investigation revealed that two men, aged 62 and 29, were involved, and they had been drinking together.
The police of the Odesa region reported this.
During the gathering, the men had an argument that escalated into a fight - guests against the host. The 29-year-old restrained the homeowner while the older man stabbed him in the chest with a knife he carried, resulting in the victim's immediate death.
To conceal the crime and complicate the identification of the deceased, the perpetrators transported the body to a forested area, mutilated it, including decapitating it, and then set it on fire. The younger perpetrator was arrested at home.
During the pre-trial investigation, the court granted a request from investigators to keep him in custody without bail.
The older man fled the scene of the crime and began to evade the authorities. His case has been separated into a different proceeding, and he has been put on the wanted list.
The police seized the vehicle used by the suspects, communication devices, and other items relevant to the case, which were later added to the evidence collection after expert analysis.
The pre-trial investigation concerning the 29-year-old, who had previous convictions for property offenses, has been completed.
He is charged with murder committed in conspiracy with others. The case has been forwarded to the court.
The maximum penalty for this crime is life imprisonment.
