The arrested individuals were part of a large drug trafficking network operating in 15 regions of Ukraine. Investigators seized a significant amount of psychotropic substances and narcotics valued at over 6 million UAH, preventing their sale. Six criminals have been charged, facing up to 12 years of imprisonment along with asset confiscation.
According to the investigation, the traffickers set up powerful labs in private homes in Odesa, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, where they manufactured and stored drugs and psychotropic substances. They distributed their products across Ukraine, utilizing the internet.
The illegal business generated substantial profits for the criminals each month.
During the investigation, police documented numerous illegal transactions by the suspects. Over 30 searches were conducted at properties used in Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as in their vehicles. Dozens of kilograms of drugs and several tons of precursors were seized, along with laboratory equipment. Four drug labs were dismantled.
The total value of the seized substances exceeds 6 million 350 thousand UAH, and they have been sent for forensic examination.
Police have detained the drug dealers in a procedural manner. Six individuals have been charged with:
- Part 2, 3 of Article 307 (illegal production and distribution of narcotic substances) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine;
- Part 2, 3 of Article 311 (illegal production of precursors) of the Criminal Code.
The offenders face up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and based on its results, a final legal qualification of the actions of the suspects will be provided.
The operation was carried out by the Department for Combating Drug-Related Crime, police in Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, and other units. The police continue their fight against the illegal drug trade.
