A serious traffic incident took place yesterday, May 16, around 10 a.m. on the Odessa-Voznesensk-Novy Buh highway near the village of Dobroslav.
Preliminary investigations revealed that an 84-year-old driver of a «VAZ» vehicle failed to yield while exiting a secondary road to a «Porsche» driven by a 40-year-old man traveling on the main road, resulting in a collision with this car and a «VOLKSWAGEN TRANSPORTER» minibus driven by a 49-year-old man, also on the main road.
The driver of the «VAZ» died in the ambulance while being transported to the hospital; his 40-year-old passenger was hospitalized, while the drivers of the other two vehicles received medical assistance and were subsequently released. The drivers were tested for intoxication, and they were found sober.
At the scene, the patrol police and the investigative team from the Odessa District Police Department were working. Investigators registered the incident in the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns violations of road safety rules or vehicle operation by a person controlling a vehicle, which resulted in the death of the victim or caused serious bodily harm.
As part of the proceedings, a series of expert examinations will be conducted. All circumstances of the accident are being established.
