In the Odesa region, law enforcement agencies apprehended the head of a local Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support for accepting a bribe. He has been charged, facing up to ten years in prison along with asset confiscation.
The investigation revealed that the official demanded two thousand dollars from a citizen in exchange for assistance in obtaining a new military registration document, removal from the electronic search system, and provision of a deferment from conscription. He stated that without payment, the issue could not be resolved.
Investigators from the Odesa Police, under the supervision of the SBU, documented the crime and arrested the official in downtown Odesa after he received the entire agreed amount in two installments. Police seized the money and related documents as evidence.
Based on the gathered evidence, the official has been charged under part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for receiving illegal benefits. This crime carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison and a potential ban from holding certain positions.
The court has ordered pre-trial detention. The investigation is ongoing, with procedural oversight by the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector.
