A troubling incident occurred a few days ago at a school in the Odesa region.
A nine-year-old third-grade girl brought a training grenade to school to show off to her friends. During playtime in the hallway, one boy accidentally pulled the grenade's safety pin, causing it to explode. Fortunately, the boy only suffered minor scratches and did not require medical attention. No other individuals were harmed.
Authorities determined that a relative had given the grenade to the girl, while her parents failed to monitor her and ensure she did not bring dangerous items to school. The girl's mother has been charged with administrative violations under part 1 of Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, which can result in a warning or a fine of up to 1700 UAH.
Police urge adults to avoid putting children in danger with their irresponsible actions. Parents are advised to closely supervise their children, monitor their activities, and educate them about the potential dangers posed by unknown objects that may conceal explosive materials.
