A trial has commenced in Odesa against women who participated in a Russian intelligence network aimed at directing fire on military and medical facilities. They provided information on at least 10 such locations. Two of the suspects are in custody while the third is serving an 8-year prison sentence.

This was reported by the Odesa regional prosecutor's office.

Law enforcement officials stated that the accused gathered information about the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces and critical infrastructure in Odesa under the guidance of a Russian intelligence officer.

"The organizer of the network turned out to be a 23-year-old local resident. Following instructions from the curator, she involved two of her friends who also supported the aggressor's actions. They wrote and sent applications for employment to one of the Russian intelligence services."

"Over several months, the trio collected and transmitted text messages, photos, and videos via messenger, along with Google Maps screenshots showing the locations of military units, recruitment centers, and hospitals. They managed to inform the occupiers about at least 10 targets," the report stated.

For their efforts, the women received $500 and planned to assume leadership positions in trade management should Odesa be occupied.

The accused were apprehended in June 2024 while gathering information about the location of a military unit. Currently, two women remain in custody, while the third is already serving her sentence. Given her cooperation with the investigation and genuine remorse, the court imposed a lighter punishment than what the law prescribes.
