On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, Memory Alley for fallen heroes was ceremoniously opened in Odesa.
Hundreds of local families, government officials, military personnel, veterans, and border guards gathered to pay tribute to the defenders who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and future.
Ruslan Prykhodko, Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs, expressed gratitude to the team behind the implementation of Memory Alley:
“This is not just a place to honor the fallen defenders of Ukraine; it is a site for forming our national identity.”
Currently, the Alley of Heroes in T.G. Shevchenko Park features over 200 names, but unfortunately, many more have perished.
Mayor of Odesa, Hennadii Trukhanov, stated that the Alley will continue to be updated with the names of defenders who have died since 2014.
Additionally, work is being done with the families of the fallen heroes to create a Memorial at one of the city's cemeteries.
Moreover, improvements are underway for the Glory and Freedom Park and the Memorial to Fighters for Ukraine.
“For me personally, these are not just projects; they are symbols of our memory, gratitude, and our promise to never forget! These are places where we can pay our respects and support each other on days of remembrance,” noted Hennadii Trukhanov.
Together we preserve the memory of those who fell, and together we will continue their mission, building a better life for all of us.
