Last week, Odesa hosted an event dedicated to the prevention and early detection of hearing issues among children and adults. This initiative was supported by the Health Department of the Odesa City Council and the local health center.
Everyone had the opportunity to undergo free screenings and receive consultations from specialists, and if needed, referrals for audiometry were provided.
During the event, 426 individuals were screened for hearing issues, including 251 children. The examinations revealed 116 cases of hearing diseases and disorders, with 64 cases found in children.
66 patients with identified hearing problems received referrals for audiometry. ENT doctors offered consultations and recommendations to all patients who attended the event.
Modern ENT equipment for diagnosing hearing diseases was purchased for Odesa's medical institutions using city budget funds. Doctors emphasize the importance of regular hearing checks, recommending annual screenings. They also advise consulting a doctor if there is a sudden decline in hearing.
Do not hesitate to visit a doctor if you:
- experience ear pain or discharge;
- have sudden hearing loss in one ear;
- are concerned about your child's hearing.
