From May 31 to June 3, 2024, the international final of the computer project competition INFOMATRIX-2024 took place in Bucharest, Romania.

This year, the competition brought together 280 students from 17 countries, showcasing 165 innovative projects. The Ukrainian team consisted of 18 students from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, presenting 12 projects. Participants competed in five categories: Programming, Computer Art, Hardware Control, Short Films, and Hackathon.

The jury evaluated both the projects and the presentations delivered in English. As a result of the competition, the Ukrainian team won 5 bronze, 6 silver, and 1 platinum medal.

Among the bronze medalists were:

- Ruslan Maysko and Ivan Zmiyevskoy, 8th-grade students from Odesa Lyceum No. 65 for their project “The Meaning of Life and My Place in It” (supervised by computer science teacher Alla Omelchenko);

- Yegor Bovkun, a 10th-grade student from Odesa Lyceum No. 65 for his project “Model of the World’s First Helicopter” (supervised by computer science teacher Oleg Pustovoyt).

This recognition on an international level showcases the strong potential of our students in the field of information technology.

Since 2009, Ukraine has continuously participated as a full member in the INFOMATRIX world final. The multi-stage selection of finalists and the organization of the team’s participation in the world final is traditionally conducted by the National Ecological and Naturalistic Center of Student Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
